Description
An update to [link] . As far as intellectual input goes, I contributed only the keys — a friend of mine conceived the idea for the rest of the logo. This one is also chaplaincy-approved, and will replace the old logo that I came up with last year, and will appear on all our gear.
The symbolism is as such:
Yellow and white (gold and silver) will be described together. In heraldry, there is no distinction between the two — both are metals, and both are colours of the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven (pictured back), assigned to St Peter (Matthew 16:19). However, there is one slight distinction between the two — gold represents spiritual power, and silver represents worldly power.
Purple is the liturgical colour of anticipation (during Advent and Lent) and repentance. Purple is also one of the core colours of the University of Hertfordshire (the other being white).
The cross is brown, but that's because it should be.
Veritatem facientes in caritate essentially means truth in love.
As I speak, another friend of mine is taking it upon himself to turn the basic version of this logo into a vector image. Yay! ^_^
Processes
The cross was drawn back in 2011 on Microsoft Paint (for Windows 7) and edited twice over on PowerPoint 2010.
The keys were drawn on deviantART muro and coloured on Photoshop CS5.1.
The outer rings and text were done on PowerPoint 2010.
The entire logo was assembled on PowerPoint 2010.
Use with permission.
