Before-After Meme: Project Chaplaincy

Description

This is for a cutscene in Project Chaplaincy, which I've titled "Meeting Jeremy". If people say that my December 2011 version is past shame, I can now say, "past shame my foot! Look at what came after that!"

I drew Jeremy Peterson as one of the playable characters for Project Chaplaincy. Here, Jean Morel and Grace Leonards embrace him as they meet him outside the doors of Allen Hall... All three of them know that Jeremy is needed for the mission to expel the Dark Scourge from Westminster, and his presence is crucial. Apparently Jeremy doesn't like being rushed at and hugged... I can imagine him saying, "Noli me tangere!" (Don't touch me!)

GENERAL NOTES
:bulletpink:Jeremy Peterson is a seminarian (in his diaconate year).
:bulletpink:The reunion scene takes place outside Allen Hall Seminary in Chelsea, London.
:bulletpink:In both cases, I drew while listening to this: [link]

BEFORE
:bulletyellow:I assume I have drawn this picture partly with a mouse (from the university computers) and partly with a touchpad (my own). Drawing with a touchpad was insane, but this is what I came up with.
:bulletyellow:I was reluctant to use Photoshop, which was available on the university computers even then.
:bulletyellow:Drawing and basic colouring were done on deviantART muro, whilst touching up was done on GIMP 2.6 and PowerPoint 2010. Still a bit too matte for my liking.
:bulletyellow:The colours and lighting are not very well defined: we have no idea where our light source is.
:bulletyellow:Apart from Jean Morel's smile, the expressions on Jeremy's and Grace's faces look fake.
:bulletyellow:The background was not a drawn picture of Allen Hall Seminary; it was a stock image of the entrance of Allen Hall Seminary. In the wrong angle, no less.

AFTER
:bulletpurple:I did part of the structure of the picture on my touchpad, and the rest with a university mouse. Drawing and basic colouring were done on deviantART muro, and touching up was done on Photoshop CS5.1 and PowerPoint 2010. The picture took me a little less than three hours.
:bulletpurple:Having actually been to Allen Hall Seminary recently, I am finally able to draw the entrance.
:bulletpurple:Grace's dress resembles that which she wears in chibi form: red all the way through, with a sash-like thing at the waist.
:bulletpurple:There is a bit more obvious lighting now.
:bulletpurple:The eyes, expressions and features have changed and are a lot more defined.
:bulletpurple:There are movement and expression marks.
:bulletpurple:One of Jean's hands is still bigger than the other, but oh well.

Now, to be perfectly honest, I myself am finding it a little hard to digest as to how I've improved over the past three months. I mean, I've drawn in my December style ever since I was 11, with a few small improvements, but the changes between December and March are quite drastic!

Project Chaplaincy is a joint work by Mark Tanner, Christopher Tracey and Annette 'Troisnyx' Singh.
